Making the real economy legible.

Millions of farmers are economically invisible. They have no verifiable identity in any system a lender recognises, no documented plot, no record of what they grew or sold. That invisibility is the single largest barrier to agricultural finance in the region — not risk appetite.

Genesis is building the identity and traceability layer that closes that gap: farmer registration through government networks, cooperatives and extension officers, capturing consent, contact details, crop, farm location and registration status. Farms are mapped with GPS and farmers carry a QR-based identity that travels with their produce.

The architecture is deliberately conservative. Personal data is stored off-chain under local governance. Only tamper-evident hashes are written to the blockchain, providing proof of record without exposing the record itself.

Farmer identity and consent
Registration through government networks, cooperatives and extension officers — capturing consent explicitly, alongside contact details, crop, farm location and registration status.
Farm mapping
GPS-based plot mapping that establishes what land is farmed by whom, forming the basis for input finance, insurance and carbon measurement.
Traceability and warehouse layer
Batch tracking from farmer to warehouse, processor, exporter and buyer — using blockchain for tamper-evident references rather than for personal data.
Government and investor dashboards
Aggregated views of crop coverage, farmer onboarding, finance deployment, export traceability and carbon readiness — permissioned, never raw.
Data governance
The Benin operating company controls the master farmer database. The holding platform receives only aggregated, permissioned reporting.

Platform effect

Operating the infrastructure, not owning the data.

This is the principle the pillar is built around. Genesis should operate trusted agricultural digital infrastructure — it should not position itself as owning farmer data. The distinction is not cosmetic: it determines who holds the master database, what the parent company can see, and whether the system survives a change of government.

Practically, that means personal data stays in-country under the operating company's control, farmers give explicit consent, the chain stores only hashes, and everything the holding platform or an investor sees is aggregated. It is a slower architecture to build and a far more durable one to run.
