PILLAR 01

Power as the precondition for everything else.

A clean-energy arm that turns policy support and land into bankable generation assets — utility-scale solar, storage, rural mini-grids and bioenergy built on agricultural residues.

Generation that serves the real economy.

Energy is the pillar the others depend on. Processing capacity, cold storage, warehousing and digital infrastructure all assume reliable power, and in much of the region that assumption does not hold. Genesis develops generation and enabling infrastructure specifically where it unlocks downstream industrial and agricultural activity.

Every project is developed inside its own vehicle. Genesis contributes development rights, preparation work and sponsor equity; development finance institutions, export credit agencies, infrastructure funds and strategic operators provide the majority of capital. Projects are structured in partnership with national authorities covering land, licensing, grid access and offtake.

Platform ambition

Scale we are building toward.

Directional targets that frame how this pillar is being structured and financed. They describe ambition on the platform's 2031 horizon, not committed capacity.

What the energy pillar builds.

How the pillar is organised in practice — the components that have to work together for a project to reach financial close and stay operating.

Utility-scale solar
Grid-connected solar parks developed to international bankability standards, with structured offtake and payment security.
Battery storage
Storage paired with generation to firm output, stabilise supply and improve the economics of both grid and mini-grid assets.
Rural mini-grids
Distributed generation and concession-based mini-grids extending reliable supply to communities and agricultural sites beyond the grid.
Bioenergy
Generation from agricultural residues — converting a processing by-product into dispatchable power and closing a loop with the agriculture pillar.
Enabling infrastructure
Grid connection works and industrial energy infrastructure that make downstream processing and logistics viable.

Platform effect

Energy is what makes the agriculture pillar industrial.

Cashew shelling, palm milling, cotton ginning, cold storage and warehousing are all energy-intensive. Without dependable power they stay small, informal and low-margin — which is exactly why value has historically left the country as raw commodity.

By developing generation alongside processing rather than waiting for it, Genesis removes the constraint that keeps agricultural value chains from industrialising. Bioenergy closes the loop in the other direction: residues from processing become fuel for the plants that produce them.

Transforming nations. Creating value.

We partner with governments, investors, development institutions and strategic operators to build platforms with lasting economic impact.
